Inflation's Wild Ride: Up and Down We Go!
Inflation, the sneaky beast, hit a peak of 9.1% in June 2022. But thanks to those rate hikes, it started to chill out, dropping to a cool 3% by June 2023. Just when we thought it was taking a nap, it jumped up by 0.5% in July 2023. Talk about unpredictable! October saw a slight dip to 3.2%, and now we're cruising at 3.1%. Want the visual? Mortgage Rates: From "Yikes!" to "Nice!"
Remember when adjustable-rate mortgages made a comeback in June 2022? Well, it took a year, but they're finally in the spotlight! And here's the best part: interest rates have dropped almost 2% in the last quarter of 2023. That's huge! A $500,000 mortgage at 8% interest was like a monthly car payment for a luxury spaceship ($3,668.82). But at 6%? It's down to a more Earthly $2,997.75. That's a lot of extra dough for your deep-dish pizza fund!

The Crystal Ball: What's Next?
The Fed's hinting at possibly 3 more rate decreases in 2024. And, oh boy, it's an election year. The current administration is hoping we've got short memories, but we know better, right?
